Tony Saxby

Tony Saxby’s lifelong passion for music began in the 1970s, inspired by the legendary Robbie Vincent’s soul and jazz‑funk sessions on Radio London. That spark led him behind the decks in 1978, starting out on Harlow Hospital Radio before moving through youth clubs and nightspots across Hertfordshire, Essex, and North London throughout the vibrant 1980s.
When he wasn’t spinning records, Tony was soaking up the club scene — watching Froggy and Chris Hill at The Lacy Lady and The Goldmine, or catching Robbie Vincent and Jeff Young at Flicks in Dartford. Those nights shaped his deep understanding of the UK soul movement and sharpened his ear for timeless grooves.
Regular pilgrimages to City Sounds in Holborn built his vinyl collection and cemented his love for the era’s rich, rhythmic sound.
Today, Tony brings that same energy and authenticity to Studio 105 — sharing the music, memories, and magic of the golden soul era with listeners who love it just as much as he does.
